3" Cinewhoop

Slow, safe, cinematic flying, indoors and outdoors

Meant to be used with a full size gopro, to carry it safely around hard, and soft targets alike, in close proximity. Wider, shorter motors, fully protected frames, and mini stacks or AIOs

This list is specced for 4/6s, and includes everything to build a full quad, except parts such as cameras, goggles, receiver and radio systems as those vary depending on prefference and you'll find recommendations on this site elsewhere.

The price range for each part is highlighted, so you can quickly find something to suit your budget needs

  • Budget
  • Mid-range
  • High-end
  • Highly varied
Motors
The lower kv on these motors would work well for bigger, 3.5" props. Or if you want a slower quad overall
Even wider stator than most motors, supposedly making them even smoother. They come in many kv options, but we mostly care about the 2200/3300kv ones, for 6s and 4s respectively
A good all-round motor for most builds. The colors give it some style, and they feel really smooth. Comes in all the kv variants you'd want. 3000/3600kv for 4s, 2600kv for 6s
If you want to run a lighter build, these would be a great match. Smaller, and lighter than the other two
Good option if you want to run a more powerful, or heavier setup. It comes with an M2 T-Mount/Shaft hybrid, supposedly giving better durability
Really big motors for most common builds, even for 3.5", but they're pretty cheap. They will give you plenty of power even on heavy builds
A newer upgraded version of the original Xing motors, they bring newer improved designs for better cooling and efficiency at a decent price
KababFPV has made these motors to be the best cinewhoop motors out there. Not sure if they are THE best, but a lot of people use them and really like them
Frames
A lighter, more affordable frame. Offering less protection, but it's lighter, and the ducts are removable. When removed, it turns into a capable 3" freestyle quad
Having a more traditional cinewhoop look and feel to it while keeping the weight low, this frame will go well for an all-round build. Comes with a special USB extension to make configuration very easy
A pusher configuration frame, going up to 3.5" props. The pusher config is supposed to give more stable flight and more control, at the cost of no bottom protection
A 3.5" platform with more open, less round ducts and a more durable bottom plate makes this a good option for faster flights, you can take off the ducts and make it into a pretty capable freestyle quad
Right back to more traditional frames, even down to the stack mount. It comes with a lot of 3d printed parts, as other IFlight frames often do, although it is a fair bit heavier
Another lighter 3.5" pusher frame with more open ducts. It has a dedicated camera soft mount to eliminate vibrations if you're after nice stabilization results
A frame specifically designed by KababFPV for the 23mm short motor, to be flown slow, and stable. Different duct options with a more traditional tight tolerance design, and replaceable arms
Likely the first widely used cinewhoop frame, it still holds its ground today. Affordable, and actually using the ducts for their intended purpose
Flight Controllers
Grouping these together because they're nearly the same, except the F722 version has the BMI270 gyro and two more motor outputs. They're good FCs with a good layout and both have a plug for DJI as well, no need for a special DJI version. Crazy long name, I know lol
Nearly the same thing as the F722 MK4, but you lose the connector for DJI, as well as the regulator for it. But for an analog build it's still a great option and will be cheaper
Hobbywing makes very durable electronics, and pairing this with the 40A Mini ESC will make for a good and durable combination that will also be PNP with DJI
Flywoo has entered the market with a lot of really innovative stuff. Probably one of the only F745 20x20 FCs out today, uarts to fit everything you need and more if you're going for advanced features
Foxeer is known for their great cameras, and the quality is the same for their electronics. The FCs have everything you'll need, with easily accessible pads all around the board. The Pro version adds TBS Passthrough and a hardware Pit switch
More than you will likely ever need from an FC, it even has space to integrate TBS parts right on the board, so you can make the build cleaner
ESCs
Including the F40_BLS and F40_128K Mini ESCs is pretty much expected, they're one of the most used ESCs out there. Good performance and price, easy to use with the Mamba FCs
Skystars has recently released a sizeable range of supposedly good price/performance parts, good for low and high-demand uses. If you're building an especially demanding quad, you'll probably need more current
A beefed-up version of the KM35 running BLHeli_32, good for the most demanding builds, with bigger pads and a large heatsink to keep it cool
Foxeer has recently come up high for FPV parts, their Reaper line of products is popular amongst racers, it sure is enough for even the most cinewhoops
Really well-built and durable ESC, Hobbywing has a great track record for making quality stuff, this one is without exception. Though sadly the price has gone up recently
A good amount of filtering for a 20x20 ESC, with a lot of space to solder. Having an STM32L4, it has headroom for higher frequencies just like the other F4-based ESCs
Video Transmitters
A smaller version of the full size Tank, with 20x20 mounting to fit in the back of the frame, or on a 20x20 stack, same quality as always from RUSH
HGLRC's new line of VTXs is quite good. You have an option to mount it on both 30x and 20x stacks, the quality is pretty nice, and it won't break the bank
$49.95

20x20
TBS put their VTX and RX tech into one board, making for an easier and cleaner installation. Mounts to both 20x and 30x stacks, and has both Tracer and Crossfire options for your system of choice
